British composer Aaron Parker’s pieces are as much ‘environments’ as ‘compositions’: rich ecosystems where strata of fibrous acoustic and electronic sound are overlaid in undulating cycles at once mechanical and utterly natural. Parker’s OTO debut sees the premieres of yevrano & raoveny, chamber works which launch processed terracotta scrapes, sighing machines, and snatches of field recording into strange, artificial acoustics. In the project space, British visual artist Susie Whaites presents a selection of photography produced in collaboration with Parker in completion of forthcoming Slip release Storage. Whaites’ photos, where simple simple wire structures intersect with dense thickets or thriving undergrowth, work with the skewed depths and scales which arise from capturing the complexity of natural environments.
