Sergey Kostyrko is a Russian musician and media artist, based in St. Petersburg and known for his participation in a number of bands performing improvised music (Benzolnye Mertvecy, Mars-96, Coaxil) and for collaborative projects with Ilia Belorukov, Alexei Borisov, Kurt Liedwart, Rutger Zuydervelt, Daichi Yoshikawa, Dariusz Mazurowski. He is a co-organizer of Fulldozer Festival (St. Petersburg, 2013, 2014), Spina!Fest (St. Petersburg, 2016) and series of club concerts Spina!Party (2013–2016) as well as a co-founder of Spina!Rec cassette label.
With his solo project Kostyrko is involved in research of new aesthetics in electronic music. His works combines different technologies and approaches to sound synthesis: during concerts and studio sessions he plays modular synthesizer, employs multi-channel sound systems, uses field recordings and different sampling techniques. As a media artist, he mostly works with generative graphics and interactive audio-visual systems. One of his last work in collaboration with Evgenii Bugaev "A bird with displaced center of mass" has been nominated for Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award (St. Petersburg, 2016) .
