Juliet Fraser

Soprano JULIET FRASER specialises in the gnarly edges of contemporary classical music. She regularly appears as a guest soloist with ensembles such as Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, Remix, Talea and Quatuor Bozzini, and is a core member of EXAUDI vocal ensemble, which she co-founded with composer/conductor James Weeks and which celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year. She is an active commissioner of new repertoire and has worked particularly closely with composers Laurence Crane, Pascale Criton, Bernhard Lang, Cassandra Miller and Rebecca Saunders. Juliet’s discography reflects the full breadth of her repertoire: she has recorded early music with Collegium Vocale Gent and EXAUDI for release on Harmonia Mundi, Outhere and Winter & Winter, and solo albums of contemporary repertoire for NEOS, Kairos, HCR and Hat Hut. Juliet is the founder and artistic director of the eavesdropping festival in London and co-director of all that dust, a little independent label for new music.

Andrew Hamilton

Andrew Hamilton was born in Dublin in 1977. He studied in Ireland, England and the Netherlands, and his composition teachers included Kevin Volans, Anthony Gilbert and Louis Andriessen. His work has been performed internationally and at many festivals including Gaudeamus. Ultraschall Berlin, ISCM World Music Days, Dublin Fringe Theatre Festival, Sommer in Stuttgart, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the MATA Festival New York. Recently he has worked on new pieces with Juliet Fraser/Maxime Echardour, Crash Ensemble, Isabelle O'Connell, Ensemble Klang, CHROMA, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the Ives Ensemble, EXAUDI, Endymion Ensemble, TILT Brass and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. In 2012 he was an artist in residence at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris and Civitella Ranieri, Umbria. Currently he is a visiting tutor in composition at the Birmingham Conservatoire.

Lina Lapelyte

Lina Lapelytė is an artist, musician, creator of performance art and contemporary opera. Initially trained as a classical violinist, Lina Lapelytė has developed an ongoing interest and research into experimental music, amateur performance, and historical genres. In her recent work, Lapelytė traverses between disciplines and explores various forms of performativity. Her works engage trained and untrained performers often in an act of ‘singing’ through a wide range of genres such as mainstream music and opera, while examining issues of displacement, otherness, ageing and gender. The singing takes the form of a collective and affective event that questions vulnerability and silencing. In 2013 her creative collaboration with Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė and Vaiva Grainytė led to the creation of the contemporary opera Have a Good Day! which is a story of the ten cashiers and their invisible lives. The opera was shown in dozens of international festivals around the world, and received six international awards. The climate change opera-performance Sun & Sea (2017) was the second project the trio co-created, which received the Golden Lion Award of the Venice Art Biennale 2019.
