Patrick Farmer has been working with Sound and Music and the Forestry Commission for the last two years. He has been taking sporadic trips up to Grizedale in the Lake District, staying in a log cabin, watching Luis Buñuel films over and over, writing his third publication, yew grotesque, and composing a series of event based prose scores for a performance in Lancaster, with Hughes, Rodgers, and Stephen Cornford, later on this year. 

Farmer, Hughes and Rodgers will take up residence in the Project Space for four days, they will spend time discussing and developing Farmer's compositions, performing them into the wall, so to speak. 

This residency will culminate in a free performance, talk, or something else. More info TBA.

Patrick Farmer

Patrick Farmer is a co-founder of Compost and Height, co-editor of the new-music journal Wolf Notes, founder of the Sound I’m Particular lecture series and Significant Landscapes Festival, and a curator of the audiograft festival. He lectures in Auditory Knowledge at Oxford Brookes University, has published a few books about sound and dis/embodied listening, and has written compositions for groups such as Apartment House and the Set Ensemble. Festival appearances and residencies include The Wulf (Los Angeles), Ftarri (Tokyo), LMC (London), I & E (Dublin), Geiger (Gothenberg), The Proms (London), Blurred Edges (Hamburg), and Forestry Commission England (Cumbria).

Sarah Hughes

Sarah Hughes is an artist, composer and performer, producing work that explores the boundaries of interdisciplinary practice, often moving between sculpture, installation, composition and music. Her work has been exhibited and performed internationally, including at South London Gallery, Cass Sculpture Foundation, Supplement, London; and V22. As a performer Hughes has played at various venues including the Musée des Beaux Arts de Nantes; The Wulf, Los Angeles; Cafe Oto, London; Parasol Unit, London; Holywell Music Hall, Oxford, and with a number of musicians including Angharad Davies, Tim Parkinson, Jürg Frey, Michael Pisaro, Antoine Beuger, Patrick Farmer, Stephen Cornford, Ryoko Akama, David Stent, and Dominic Lash. Realisations of her compositions have been published by Another Timbre Records, Suppedaneum, Consumer Waste Records and Reductive Music.

Samuel Rodgers

Samuel Rodgers is a musician and sound artist working across improvisation, sound recording, performance and installation. His work is concerned with exploring acoustic phenomena and developing haptic relationships to sounding objects and spaces - sound reproduction and recording being key in the articulation of these spatial relationships. Samuel is a member of the Set Ensemble and co-curates the Consumer Waste record label.
