Sebastian Lexer & Christoph Schiller

1 Luftwurzeln 42:26

"Acoustic instrumentation at its most traditional meets digital processes even as they are still being developed. The warmth of a vibrating string meets itself mirrored back altered significantly by computer transformation. Keys sometimes depressed, at other times they sit untouched, bypassed my musicians leaning over them. Old ways of doing things meet new ways." - The Watchful Ear

Sebastian Lexer

Sebastian Lexer rewires the ultimate nineteenth-century drawing room mechanism with twenty-first-century technology to create a music that hovers inbetween times, exploiting the tension between the automatic and the intentional, making any firm sense of space thrillingly uncertain.

Christoph Schiller

Christoph Schiller (spinet) lives in Weil-am-Rhein in South Germany, but has a workshop across the Swiss border in Basel, from which he runs his Atelierkonzert series of concerts. He studied fine art before turning to music, and now plays both baroque and contemporary music as well as improvisation. Frequent collaborators include Magnus Granberg, Birgit Ulher, Anna-Kaisa Meklin, Rhodri Davies and Sebastian Lexer. His music has been released on labels such as Another Timbre, Matchless, Creative Sources, Hybrid and Wandelweiser.
